The EPA are on the ground in the McKenzie Valley starting the Hazardous Waste cleanup!
Update from our Congressional Office:
- Fire-affected Oregon property owners now have a dedicated phone number (541-225-5549) to ask questions about EPA’s work at their property or to provide additional details about their property that will help speed the EPA removal work. The hotline offers service in both English and Spanish.
- Property owners now have another tool, the EPA Fire Recovery Story Map to view work progress in the area and get the latest information available about their property.
- Property owners who have not already signed and completed a “Right of Entry” form with their county are strongly encouraged to do so to help speed cleanup operations in their area. See: Oregon’s Wildfire Cleanup website for more information on the needed forms.
- A FEMA external outreach center has been established in Douglas County. See attached for more information, and for information about location of other FEMA external outreach centers in Oregon.
- Wyden, Merkley, Leahy, Schumer Ask National Guard For Wildfire Readiness Assessment. Read more here.
The Status Map site is a great resource for seeing the EPA’s ongoing work so we recommend you check that out, screenshot below. You can zoom right in to see the properties that are being worked on at the moment.
Here is a fact sheet about the EPA’s work assessing properties for household hazardous waste. The EPA hotline phone number and the link for their status map are both on the fact sheet, they are very helpful for folks who have been affected by the wildfires.
